So here I am on Super Sunday entering my first “real” blog post. I guess it figures since I am such a sports fan that it would only seem fitting that my next great adventure begins on the day of the most over-hyped sporting event in this country. I guess this leads me to wonder about the concept of hype. People who aspire to leadership positions in any field should be generally familiar with the concept of hype, as they seek to be the best leader they can be. I mean have you ever heard of anyone who openly spoke of their need to be a bad leader? Hype though is another matter. When a new administrator comes into the building there is an initial euphoria about the possibilities. Commonly the euphoria disintegrates into something like the Super Bowl, where the build up and initial hype can never pan out into a finished product. My blog seeks to become a place where the emerging principal can see hype as never ending, it just keeps moving forward. The emerging principal is the leader who is both collaborative and continuously learning by action, not by tongue. Hopefully you will be emerging with me, together.
Not to completely eliminate the hype today, Steelers 24 and Cardinals 21.
